Charlotte, North Carolina

Realizing that the SOI ministry methods implemented in East Africa and Mexico are just as needed in the streets of American inner city neighborhoods, SOI opened an office in Charlotte, NC in early 2009. The vision of this project was and still is to reach families and communities through the basic SOI programs: Sports Ministry, Bible Teaching, Public Health, Feeding, and Vocational Training.
In 2011, the ministry in Charlotte was named Project 658 which derives from
the verse John 6:58, "I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this
bread will not die, but will live forever."
Charlotte, NC was chosen as a ministry site because of the great need among the diverse population in the city. Hundreds of immigrants, refugees and asylees from countries across the globe resettle in the Charlotte area every year and are offered government assistance for only a short time upon arriving. Many do not speak English, do not have the skills necessary for employment in America, and have little to no resources for help.
While SOIʼs Project 658 is focused on ministry specifically in Charlotte, NC the methods of ministry are the same throughout SOI.
