Tim & Barb Wood, through Sports Outreach Mexico, run a multifaceted ministry with an approach to sharing the love of Christ in the Costa Chica region of Mexico. The church, La Mira, represents the hub from which all activities flow. Ministries include Maranatha Soccer, Corey Brenton Junior High School, hospital chaplaincy, youth camps and church planting. Each arm represents opportunities for building relationships within the community which foster openness for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Goals and Purposes

• La Mira: to be a missionary church in spreading the gospel to the surrounding region and to disciple members in their Christian walk.
• Corey Brenton Junior High School: to establish a quality education program from a Christian perspective.
• Maranatha Soccer: to develop relationships with youth and adults, share the gospel, and open doors for sharing Christ with others.
• Hospital Chaplaincy: to provide encouragement, prayer, counseling, and hope to those suffering illness and their families.
• Youth Camps: to provide opportunities to reach youth of the region for Christ and begin to disciple them.
• Missionary Camp: to teach, disciple, and train youth for outreaches and fulfilling God’s command to go forth.
• Church Plants: to provide a place for individuals to grow in the Lord through discipleship and to serve in a church body plus reach out to others.
