Through a seamless collaboration with Big World Project, Sports Outreach will serve in India. We will complement existing ministry activities by implementing sports ministry within orphan homes and bible colleges currently being served.

Founded in 2013 out of a deep desire to manifest the love of Jesus to those oppressed by extreme poverty, Big World Project has made its mission to rescue and care for street children throughout India. Currently, over 100 million children do not have a place to call home. These children are left to fend for themselves on the streets of urban areas with no access to food or a safe place to call home. It is only a matter of time until a child is approached for sex in exchange for food and shelter. Out of desperation, many children fall prey to these traffickers. There are no words to describe the level of hopelessness and despair a child feels when they find themselves in these vulnerable situations.

Faced with the challenge of confronting this injustice we have developed three main ways to reach our goal. First, we exist to raise funds to build orphanages and safe houses to provide homes for victims. Already, we have four orphanages and a safe house providing protection for over one hundred children and young women.

Secondly, we establish indigenous businesses to assure the sustainability of every orphanage and safe house, as well as providing jobs for the local economy, such as paper plate manufacturing, farming, and brick making. Our hope is that these indigenous businesses will provide a portion of sustainability. This approach helps ensure that children and young woman can be cared for long-term without relying solely on donations.

Sustainability in Action

Finally, our main desire is to see lives transformed by the living power and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we care for our children by providing for their daily needs of food, water, shelter, medical care, and education, we create a place where God’s love abounds and hope and healing are experienced through knowing Jesus and His word.

With over 100 million street kids existing in our world today, we must take an active role in living out the gospel. We must confront this epidemic and strive to provide not only protection, but also love and redemption. As the contemporary, David Platt stated, “We care for orphans NOT because we are rescuers, but because we are the rescued.” God our Father gave us the perfect example of what it means to rescue the lost by sending his only son Jesus Christ to save us from our lost state of sin. Please consider joining us in this initiative whose heartbeat is founded on this gospel principle.
