Volunteer Locally

Soccer Club

Sports Outreach’s soccer club is a Christ-centered program for kids across our city (grades K-5th). We openly invite children from local communities and churches to participate in skills training, scrimmages and a half-time devotional each club meeting. We are looking for volunteers who love kids and possess soccer knowledge. Past coaching or playing experience are preferred but not required. Time Commitment: ~2.5 hours/week

Basketball Club

Sports Outreach’s basketball club is a Christ-centered basketball program for boys across the city of Lynchburg in Grades 3-5. We are looking for committed volunteer coaches. Preference is given to coaches with a strong basketball knowledge and coaching experience. The only true requirements are a desire to share Christ with the team, and an eagerness to build relationships with the players and their families. Time Commitment: minimum 2 hours/week–

Chess Club

There is currently no local chess program. If you are interested in getting involved with the ministry through leading youth and teaching chess please complete the form below!

Discipleship

As God has built relationships with our staff/volunteers and youth and families, the need for committed, intentional discipleship has become apparent. We are currently in the process of developing a structure that will effectively train volunteers in the process of disciple-making while connecting them to youth from our programs who are new or young in their faith. This will empower both the youth and committed volunteers to work out what it means to follow Christ together. We are looking for mature Christian men who have a passion for mentoring and disciple-making. Sports interest is not necessary. The weekly time commitment is TBD

Special Event Volunteer

Help us to help you bring Sports Outreach to your church, small group, club or organization. Awareness events require lots of volunteers to be successful and are a great way to spread the word. Also, Sports Outreach has key partners that need volunteers — their success directly impacts ours! Yearly events that need volunteers: Ballin’ For the Burg, Annual Banquet, and our Golf Event.
