Queen of Katwe Screenings Successful

Prior to last month’s national release of Disney’s “Queen of Katwe” movie, there were many screenings scattered throughout the United States.  The World Chess Federation has written a nice synopsis of some of them which can be found by clicking HERE.

Steve Clark Returns to Argentina

Steve Clark, Sports Outreach staff member in California, reports of an impactful time spent with pastors and church leaders passionate about using sports ministry as a discipleship tool in their churches.  Ministry included leading sessions on defining sports ministry, fatherlessness (which creates a need for the church to step in and fill the gap), teachable moments, and how to point kids to Christ by using church soccer and volleyball facilities. The cool, rainy weather proved to be a challenge for the outdoor sessions, but they made the most of it with limited resources.  Opportunities even presented themselves for Steve to talk about chess as well as how to incorporate a Christian worldview into teaching Taekwondo. Steve was encouraged to see how people are grasping the potential of using sports as a basis for reaching their spheres for Christ.

Visit to Vienna

No, not Vienna, Austria, but Vienna, Virginia.  Last month Sports Outreach staff members Rodney Suddith, Amanda Novack, and Neal Massey visited Vienna Presbyterian Church, a faithful partner and supporter for many years.  While there they were able to share in the service as well as in the classroom.
