Fostering Gospel communities in Ometepec

Tim and Barb Wood have a longstanding and deeply effective ministry in Ometepec. Their vision is to see the Gospel grow in the area as they raise up local leaders.

Ometepec is a traditional city located in the rural coastal mountain region of Southwest Mexico, and serves as the health, education, and economic hub for Indian, Mestizo, and Mulatto communities.

The Woods and their team run the Club Maranatha soccer program, which fields soccer teams and organizes a children’s league. They envisioned and started the Reginald Carey Brenton School, a Junior/Senior high school , and have recently started a preschool/kindergarten.

Tim and Barb have also discipled and mentored church leaders, resulting in one church plant and several groups moving toward becoming churches. They also operate six summer camps for both children and adults. Their longer term plans include establishing a primary school and constructing additional buildings and athletic fields for the schools.
