November 2020 - Uganda Perspective from Robert Katende

Many times, things go unnoticed, but seeing us come this far amidst this pandemic is something worthy of thanking the Creator for.

Our coaches have been great servants during these unprecedented times that included total local down of the country. Amidst this dilemma, we continued to stay accountable to those we serve and provided them family food packages every week for about four months. Over 400 families benefited, enabling over 2000 people to endure the corona virus crisis lockdown period.

We have adjusted a bit on our approach to ministry.  We cannot get on the field yet, so our coaches make home visits. We have distributed some sports equipment, especially chess sets, to homesteads in order to keep the children engaged. Our coaches visit the communities, making sure to observe government health rules. We have used this opportunity to collect information and create a database for all of the children and families we serve.

There is a man aged 40 called Moses. He was met by one of our coaches during the family visits in the lockdown in the communities around our resource center outside of Kampala. After some good interaction and sharing of the gospel, Moses accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior! Soon after, one of his nieces also accepted Christ.  Our coaches helped them get attached to a local church.

During family food support distributions in our Bwaise slum project, two mothers gave their life to Christ.  Our coaches continued to visit and disciple them on a weekly basis until the lockdown was lifted and they could begin attending a church.

We look forward to resuming our ministries with deepened relationships among the children and families we serve!
